Cynthia Ann Roberts Tinsley, of Erie, residing in Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at age 77 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Erie on October 31, 1947.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, William H. Roberts and Sarah "Sally" L. Roberts of Harborcreek; a sister, Sharon L. Roberts; and her husband, Robert E. Tinsley. She is survived by her sister, Laura L. Sanford (Robert) of Harborcreek; sons, Brian J. Penfield (Jennifer) of Enola and Michael J. Penfield (Karen) of Lake City; stepdaughter, Dawn Grabinski of South Lyon, MI; stepson, John R. Tinsley (Katie) of North Platte, NE; grandchildren, Sean, Sarah, Paige, and Michael Penfield, Sarah (Derek) Moskal, Emily (Pete) Charette, Alex (Mckenzi) Grabinski, and Elizabeth and Estermae Tinsley, as well as a beloved extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, and great-grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and relished her time as "Beanie" with her grandchildren.
Cindy was a 1965 graduate of Academy High School. She pursued higher education as an adult learner, earning an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Penn State Behrend. After working at various local businesses, she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse by enrolling in the Saint Vincent School of Nursing. After graduation in 1992, she worked at the hospital and as a visiting nurse.
Cindy was a lifelong member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing in the bell choir, attending bible study and circle meetings, as well as serving the community through various activities at the Wesley Center.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the devoted caregivers at Harmony at West Shore, Legends at Silver Creek, and Residential Hospice of Mechanicsburg.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday, September 5th from 3 to 7 pm with the Nurses' Honor Guard conducting a service at 6:30 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3308 South Street, on Saturday, September 6th at 2 pm conducted by Pastor Jackie Condon. A Graveside Service will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. A reception for friends and family will be held at the Wesley Center at the conclusion of the ceremonies. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable contribution to an organization that offers supportive services to individuals and families dealing with the devastating effects of dementia.
