Dakota Ray Lamons, 19, of Vinemont, Alabama, passed away on November 9, 2023. Dakota was born in Cullman County, Alabama, on October 1, 2004, to Steven Lamons and Jessica Coker Lamons.

Dakota was a mechanic and he enjoyed tearing apart, rebuilding, and repairing cars. He loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed yardwork. Dakota loved to eat, and he was known to raid the refrigerator of his family when he visited with them. He loved his family and spending time with them. Dakota was a loving father, and each of his babies held a special place in his heart. Dakota’s time on earth was much too short but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him for eternity.

Dakota is preceded in death by his grandmother, Marsha Bailey; grandfathers, Ronald Bailey, and Denise Lamons; aunt, Kimberly Lamons; and uncle, Jason Wilkie.

He is survived by his mother, Jessica Lamons (Jeffrey Holmes); father, Steven Lamons (April Doss); children, Lakelee Lamons, Johnathan Lamons, Melanie Lamons, and Nevaeh Lamons; wife, Amanda Mealer; sisters, Emily Coggins (Payton), Hailey Smalls (BJ), and Desirae Pridmore; brother, Dwight Pridmore; nephew, Kyrie Smalls; nieces, Isabella and Avianna Smalls; grandmothers, Linda Lamons, and Sheina Mooney; aunts and uncles, Johnny Lamons (Tammy), William Lamons (Amy), Wayne Lusk; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Dakota will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, with Jeff “Bama” Ritch officiating. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation two hours prior to services, beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow services in Etha Cemetery where Jeff, Steven, Payton, BJ, Adrian, Isaiah, Jacob, Levi, and Caleb will serve as pallbearers for Mr. Lamons.

In lieu of flowers, the Lamons family has requested that donations be made to help with funeral expenses for Dakota. A link has been provided on the Holly Pond Funeral Home website. All donations will be applied directly to Dakota’s expenses.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lamons family.
