Dale Ray Owens Sr., 64 years of age, passed away Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at the Mount Carmel Saint Ann's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Dale was born on April 28, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio to the late William Owens Sr. and Goldie Owens. He was the second oldest son of his three brothers: eldest brother Toby Owens, Jim Owens, and his youngest brother, William Owens Jr. Dale was born, raised, and lived the rest of his life in Ohio.
In Dale's life, he made sure to work as hard as he could and do whatever he could for his friends and family, as well as those he hardly even knew. During the Blizzard of 1978 while he was living in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, he, along with many others, worked together to clear the streets of snow and was awarded a plaque by the Mayor of Reynoldsburg at that time for his contribution. He was a devoted worker and remained so for the rest of his life. Dale married his best friend of almost 19 years, and wife of 7 years, Teresa Lynn Slayton on August 13, 2016. Together they created the lives of two children, their daughter Delrae Owens, born April 10, 2006, and their son, Dale Ray Owens Jr., born May 30, 2010.
Dale enjoyed spending time with the family, making sure to be with them whenever possible. He loved to take his family out to eat at restaurants such as Frisch's or The York Steakhouse, go on vacation to Memphis, Tennessee, and Disney World, he also liked visiting Logan, Ohio. He enjoyed waking up in the mornings to have a cup of coffee or two before and after work. The food he loved the most was spaghetti, and he enjoyed eating sugary treats like German Chocolate Cake.
Nevertheless, nothing could amount to the love he felt for his family. He was proud of the life he had made for himself and provided for his family in any way he could. He supported his wife as she stayed home with the kids while he worked, and he encouraged his children to do well in school and make a good life for themselves and their future families. His family was his life and made sure everyone knew it. He lived life to its fullest, making people happy and helping all those he could. He left an undying imprint on those he met, and because of that, he will never truly be gone, as memories of him will continue to be cherished by everyone forever.
Dale was survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Toby and Jean Owens, mother-in-law, Maxine Block, brother and sister-in-law Sean and Lara Block, two nieces and two nephews, and his wife and two children. His passing has caused a hole within his wife, Teresa, and children, Delrae and Dale Jr.'s hearts, and no matter what happens, that emptiness will never be filled again. Without him, themselves and their lives will forever be changed, and their previous sense of normalcy will remain altered for the rest of their time. Nothing could amount to the life he brought to their souls, and until they meet again, an abyss of loneliness will remain in their hearts.
