Dale George Wilson, of Lima Estates, Media PA and formerly of King of Prussia passed on November 4, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Marie Wilson (nee Rodichok) for 58 years. He was the father of Bryan Wilson (Cherie) and the Grandfather of Kayla Kathryn and Dylan Bryan Wilson. He is also survived by his brother, Robert E. Wilson of Ft. Lauderdale (Peter Zupkofska).
Dale grew up in Scranton where he attended West Scranton High School. His interest in electronics led Dale to matriculate to DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduation Dale worked for Motorola in Chicago and then General Electric in Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Navy stationed in North Africa keeping the equipment functioning for Naval Intelligence. Upon completing his active duty, Dale used the G.I. Bill to enroll at Villanova University and pursued a degree in Business Management. His career at GE Aerospace spanned 40 years. He was the Manager of the microelectronics organization.
Dale and Elaine met in Avalon PA. It seems that Elaine and friends were staying on one side of the street and Dale and friends were on the other. You'll have to ask them for the rest of the details, but they've been happily married ever since. Dale served as a volunteer Fire Policeman with the King of Prussia Fire Company. He also served as a panel member on the Upper Merion Youth Aid Program. The goal of this program is to prevent youth who are first-time offenders from continuing to break the law. Their crime must not be alcohol related or include violence. The judge or person in charge may offer this program to the young offender and their family.
Dale and his wife were also very active volunteers with the American Red Cross Disaster Action Services. Dale served as a Shelter Manager which involved the logistics of housing, feeding and medical needs of the shelter population along with coordination of services with other charities (e.g., Salvation Army, Southern Baptist Conference) and local authorities. Some of his assignments included: flooding in LaCrosse, WI, Oklahoma tornadoes, Katrina in Gulfport, MS, 9/11 in New York City and wildfires in California to name a few. Elaine also joined him on local shelters and the wildfires in California. Their Red Cross work also included numerous local house fires. In this capacity, they were called upon to aid families who had experienced a home fire (usually while the fire department was still on scene). They would then find a hotel for the family to stay for three nights (so they would be in a safe place) along with funding for their immediate needs for food and clothing.
Dale and Elaine moved to Lima Estates in January, 2018, where they made many new friends who have been so helpful and supportive.
Services are being arranged by his family and will be posted here when a schedule is available.
Memorial contributions can be made to Lima Estates Samaritan Fund/ActsLegacyFoundation.org or The American Red Cross.
