Dan Belt, the eldest son of Linda Darnell and John L Belt, was born on May 22, 1964, in Oklahoma City. Tragically, he passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2023, at the age of 59.
Dan graduated from Putnam City High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Central State University before pursuing an MBA in Urban Planning at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
A naturally gifted athlete, Dan began competing at a young age, amassing numerous awards and trophies throughout his life. Although excelling in several sports, he primarily identified as a tennis player. Dan remained passionate about sports and politics throughout his lifetime.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, John L Belt, and his grandparents Frances and Crawford Bennett. He is survived by his mother, Linda Darnell; his brother, John L Belt II; his sister-in-law, Brandi Belt; his nephews, Nethaniel and Malachi Belt; and step-mother, Joy Reed Belt.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Smith & Kernke. The burial is scheduled to take place at Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, August 21, at 10am. As we gather to bid a final farewell, let us remember Dan Belt-a man whose legacy will forever be marked by his dedication, achievements, and the lives he touched with his enduring spirit.

I knew Dan from Quail Lake apartments. We worked out together most everyday at the Athletic Club, also with Steve Gagneth. We went to UCO about the same time. He was a great person.
