Dana E. Roeback
Dana E. Roeback, age 55, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He was born in Erie on August 13, 1969, son of Marilyn Roeback and the late Lee Ronald Roeback.
Dana was a 1988 graduate of McDowell High School and received a Culinary Degree from the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts. He was an executive chef at the Lawrence Park Golf Club for 17 years and had previously owned and proudly operated his own restaurant, Dana's 24 Carrot.
Dana loved spending time with his family at the family farm and hosting any holiday at his home. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers, sons, and nephews during deer season. Dana was a lover of music and enjoyed singing karaoke with his family. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, outnumbered in a family of Pittsburgh Steelers fans. Dana was a kind and loving father who cherished time with his kids and grandchild. Anyone who knew Dana knew he was larger than life. He had a personality that could light a room, and it'd be hard to find someone who knew Dana who wouldn't be laughing within moments of meeting him. He was the man with the biggest heart you'd ever meet and the quickest joke you ever heard. Dana embodied kindness and generosity in everything he did. He was giving and helpful, especially when his family needed emergency culinary advice. Dana was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. His memory and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Dana is survived by his wife, Barbara Roeback; four children, his twins, Joseph Moore (Natalia Garcia) and John Moore (Chandler), Juliana Roeback and James Roeback; six sisters, Kimberly Danylko (John), Adrienne Marzka Meyers (Robert), Jennifer Smith (Edwin), Cynthia Kuhn (Donald), Natalie Miller (William) and Kirsten Hampy; two brothers, Lee Hunter Roeback (Dorothy) and Desmond Roeback (Laura); sister-in-law, Jennifer Roeback; one granddaughter, Valerie Moore; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his father, Dana was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Roeback; and brothers-in-law, Gary Hampy, Robert Marzka, and Alton Zilhaver.
Friends will be received at Saint Peter Cathedral, 230 West 10th Street, on Friday, February 28th, from 9 am until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emma's Footprints, 412 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16502.

What can I say about a person so special that within 5 minutes of meeting him, you felt like you had a new best friend.
I was an outsider at deer camp for all of five minutes. Dana had an infectious personality that you couldn´t help being attracted to. He was a warm and friendly guy that I liked immediately. (And I don´t like people for the most part)
I will never forget the time that he and I both got 8 point bucks the same year!
Our bond was solidified that day.
Bragging rights for years!
We were supposed to hunt last season but the weather was terrible and he did the right thing and stayed home with his family.
Not having him with us at deer camp, in 2024, will forever be one of my greatest regrets.
We all love you and miss you my friend.
Please give Jason my love when you see him in heaven. Your friend always.
Marty

Dear Cousins, I wish I knew Dana better. I have one very endearing memory of I believe it was Dana at a family picnic years ago at Uncle Bud´s farm. Billy was filming with Danny Maloney interviewing. He was asking this young man playing in the grass or dirt what is your name? And the little guy said Ruko Roku. I believe it was Dana unless it was Desi, any how that is my best memory of Dana besides all the wonderful thing said about Dana and his many families.
