Dr. Daniel Leon Araoz

Dr. Daniel L. Araoz was born on April 23, 1930 in Buenos Aries, Argentina. He came to New York in 1951 as a young Jesuit. He was ordained into the priesthood in 1950 and five years later, left the priesthood. He married and had two children. Dr Araoz obtained a doctorate degree from Columbia University in Family Therapy. He was employed as a professor at Long Island University where he taught Graduate students in the master's degree counseling program until his retirement in 2012. During his career, he wrote hundreds of articles and published 13 books on the "New Hypnosis" and other psychoanalytically related topics. Dr. Araoz worked for other universities and learning institutions as well as maintain a private practice until 2019.
Daniel passed away on Thursday, September 15th, 2022, at the age of 92, following a lengthy illness. He was blessed to have a wonderful caretaker, Luz Carballo, a native from Argentina who faithfully cared for him over the last few years. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dr. Marie Carrese, son Lee and his wife, Jeanine, daughter Nadine and husband Dr. Robert Beuka, seven grandchildren, Kaylee, Luke, twins Ava and Emma, Malcolm, Juliet and Delia, a niece Margaret Naranjo and her two sons, Gavin and Casey as well as several nephews and nieces living in Argentina and Paris.
Dr. Daniel Araoz will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by a host of family and friends. He was truly a great and dignified gentleman, teacher, and scholar who touched and changed the lives of so many with his philosophy of the "New Hypnosis" and positive thinking. He was a good man.
