Daniel Bamonte Jr., of Harrison, took his last breath and was finally at peace on October 30, 2023. Daniel was born on April 18, 1945 to Marian (Grome) and Daniel Bamonte. He graduated from Purcell High School then joined the Marine Corps, serving from 1965 - 1967 and having 1 yr, 1 month and 11 days in foreign service during Vietnam.
Daniel met Kathleen Hurd and didn't wait around to let someone else snatch her up... they were married on Feb. 3, 1968, (9 weeks after proposing and 13 weeks after meeting each other) and she was the love of his life. He enrolled in the University of Cincinnati and attended Xavier University. During this busy time of life Dan and Kathy welcomed 5 children: Gina, Daniel III, Anthony, Nicholas and Mario. Dan and Kathy made their home in Harrison, where Dan taught and coached football, track, & wrestling at William Henry Harrison High School, and Winton Woods. Service was his mission and he was an asset to the community. Dan helped many students and athletes achieve dreams of going to college and he enjoyed hearing where students ended up in life. Dan will be dearly missed and life will never be the same for his family.
Those left to cherish all of the wonderful memories are his loving wife: Kathleen Ann (Hurd) Bamonte; children: Gina (Jeff) Kerth, Daniel Dominic (Ingrid Jansen) Bamonte III, Anthony (Stephanie) Bamonte, Nicholas (Heather Turner) Bamonte, and Mario (Emily ) Bamonte; cherished 11 grandchildren:Marcus Dominic (Nikki Bray) Martin, Carrie Martin, Samantha Kerth, Angela (Alexis) Gabbard, Anna Kerth, Vincent Bamonte, Giovanna Jensen Bamonte, Maristella and Tazio Bamonte, and twins: Rocco and Isabella Bamonte and bonus grandchildren: Cameron and Juliette; 12 great grandchildren: Riley, Braiden, Brandon, Skylar, Gia, Amyia, Neveyah Arlo, Katelyn, James, Margaret "Maggy", and Mark. Dan was also a wonderful brother to Michael Bamonte; dear son-in-law of: Joan Hurd; brother-in-law of: Jim (Kenyata) Hurd, Charles Hurd, Mary (Jay) Cook, and Patrick (Anne) Hurd. He also leaves behind many cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents: Daniel and Marian Bamonte; Father-in-law: John L Hurd; brother-in-law: John L. Hurd, Jr; and nephew: Samuel Hurd.
Gathering of Friends will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10010 Carolina Trace Rd., Harrison, on November 10, 2023 from 10 am until the time of Mass at 11 am. Burial will follow with Military honors provided by the US Marines and the Harrison Honor Guard. A celebration will follow at the American Legion, 10700 Campbell Rd, Harrison, OH 45030 from 1 pm to 5 pm.
