Daniel J. Colgan

Daniel J. Colgan, age 95, of McSherrystown, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Regina T. (Kuhn) Colgan. Together they shared more than 70 years of marriage.
Daniel was born in McSherrystown, PA on October 26, 1929 and was the son of the late Francis X. and Edith M. (Lawrence) Colgan. He graduated from Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown and was a lifelong parishioner of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir for nearly 80 years. Daniel also served as the assistant manager of Halls Motor Transit Co., sang with "The Standardbreds" Barbershop Quartet Chorus, was a member of the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus, and a charter member of the Pvt. Barney Devine Division 1 Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
In addition to his loving wife Regina Teresa, Daniel is survived by his children Lynn M. Colgan Cohen, OFS, and husband Henry S. Cohen, Brian M. Colgan, Patrick F. Colgan and wife Lynn Kraus Colgan, Eileen M. Bowling and husband G. Patrick Bowling, Jacqueline J. Klunk and husband Francis Klunk, Jennifer L. Colgan, Julie A. McMaster and husband Jeffrey McMaster, and Daniel P. Colgan and wife Jennifer Colgan; 27 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Brian David Colgan; his daughter Kathleen A. Antonaccio; his grandsons Patrick S. Colgan, David C. Colgan and Michael D. Niedererr; his daughters-in-law Carolyn J. Colgan and Patricia R. Colgan; his step-grandson Brady Mathias Mann; and his 13 brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Daniel's Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 9:00AM at Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, 26 N. Third St., McSherrystown, PA 17344, with Rev. Richard Lyons as celebrant. He will be laid to rest following the Mass at Annunciation B.V.M. Cemetery in McSherrystown. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM.
