Daniel Cline “Danny” Deitz, 74, of Sylva, passed away on his birthday. He was born on July 14, 1950, in Starke, Florida and was the son of the late Cline Deitz and the late Jewel Deitz Crawford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dianne Deitz Roten and paternal grandparents, Danah and Alvin Deitz. He was a graduate of Sylva Webster High School and worked at Western Carolina Telephone until becoming disabled due to an accident in 1971.
He is survived by 3 sisters, Denise Dries (Joe) of Sylva, Darlene Stokely (Bob) and Donna Sullivan of Starke, FL; 2 brothers, Randy Crawford of Starke, FL and Ronnie Crawford (Eva) of Morristown, TN. He is also survived by his aunt Frankie Ward and his uncle Loy Deitz of Sylva, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank a special caregiver, Eric Robinson and his family who treated Danny like a member of their own family, while he was in their care. Also, thanks to Smoky Mountain Nursing Home in Waynesville for the great care that was provided over the last years of his life.
No services are planned.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to East Fork Cemetery Fund c/o Randall Buchanan.
Arrangements are in the care of Appalachian Funeral Services.
