Daniel "Danny" Arnold Griffis
Born January 3, 1947 Pensacola, FL
Our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away January 5, 2024 at the age of 77. He was affectionately known as "Bubba", "Uncle Danny", "Uncle D", "Cuz" and "Mr. Dan".
Danny played football for and graduated from Tech High School. He worked in the construction industry most of his life and was a painter for many years. He retired from Public Works NAS Pensacola.
Danny loved his family and friends. He loved driving his truck, going to the casino, fishing, hunting, playing golf and he especially loved making people laugh! He always said, "You can get through a lot if you've got a sense of humor" and he possessed the undeniable gift of finding humor in almost every situation. He sported a huge Superman watch which everyone noticed and complimented and that's exactly how he lived his life – on his own terms, like he was Superman!
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Griffis; mother, Alice Katherine Nall Griffis; and sister, Barbara Griffis Billingsley.
Danny is survived by sisters, Bonnie Griffis Lewis (James) and Debbie Griffis Chavers (Terry); and Brother-in-Law, Bill Billingsley; nieces, Shelly Billingsley Trevino (Rick), Gina Kay Lewis, Denise Lewis (Paul Young); and nephew, Reid Billingsley; great nieces, Kayleigh Terrell (Michael), Mallory McDonald, McKenna McDonald, Lily Billingsley and Alice Young; great nephews, Logan Bass, Dillon McDonald, and Keelan Billingsley; great-greats, Adalynn Terrell and Langston Wheeler. He also leaves behind many beloved cousins and friends.
Many thanks to the Therapy and Healthcare Team at De Luna Health and Rehab where he was recovering from a stroke suffered on October 16th. While we know it takes the entire team, there was no denying his Physical Therapist, Andrew, knew how important it was to Danny to go home and live independently and they had moved mountains together. A special thanks also to Wes and Ebony.
Per his request there will not be a service. Danny would prefer to be remembered frying mullet, maybe tossing a golf club into the lake and enjoying a good belly laugh with friends and family! He loved you all.

Debbie, Bonnie, family and friends, my heart goes out to you all for the loss of Danny. Danny was a true pro at laughter - even when it had been years since seeing him, his hugs and hilarious tales made it feel like yesterday. Danny´s turbo-speed storytelling and infectious laughter were truly one-of-a-kind. Remembering him as one of the kindest, gentlest soul brings a grin to my face. Cuz, you´re forever etched in our memories. Love y´all! Cyndi Nall
