WESTMORE, VT – Daniel P. Locke, 75, of Westmore, Vt., and formerly of Columbia, passed away at the Vermont Health & Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsbury early on Friday, May 10, 2024, after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester, N.H., on March 2, 1949, a son of the late Joseph and Henrietta Locke. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War.
For many years, Daniel owned and operated a successful railroad construction company, L & S Railroad Company.
He loved to hunt and fish, and to spend time out in the woods. He also loved to cook (and eat) and spend time with his family. Dan was an avid reader, and a music lover. He played the guitar and harmonica and was a life-long fan of The Beatles. He was known to be fond of a well-made cocktail, especially a Bacardi & Coke.
Dan leaves behind his three children, Melissa Marier and her husband Kenny of Newfields, N.H., Amy Hill and her partner Raymond Young of Danville, Vt., and Nathan Locke and his wife Michele, of Concord, N.H.; and seven grandchildren, Kathryn Locke (and partner Dawson Fogg), Ashlin Hill, Kooper Marier, Caiden Hill, Kennedy Locke, Carter Locke, and Emma Marier.
He is predeceased by beloved wife of 50 years, Jacqueline (Blais) Locke; a brother, Wayne Locke; and a sister, Judy Locke.
There are no public calling hours or services scheduled at this time.
