Daniel C. Martin, born on January 2, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family following a long battle with cancer. He was the cherished son of Ethel and Bob Martin and grew up with his siblings: brothers Bobby, Gary, and Tom, and sister Laura.
Daniel was a devoted husband to his wife, Valerie, a proud father to his children: Gregory, Matthew, and his daughter Janine and a loving grandfather to his granddaughter Daniella. He was deeply affected by the loss of his eldest son, Daniel, whose memory remained a significant part of his life. His greatest joy was being a father, and he cherished every moment spent with his children.
A beloved coach, Daniel inspired countless young athletes with his passion for the game and his commitment to their growth both on and off the field.
A dedicated iron worker in Local 40, Daniel took great satisfaction in his work and the contributions he made to his community.
Known for his warm heart and immeasurable strength, Daniel touched the lives of many. His legacy of generosity and joy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, children, granddaughter, brothers and sister.
Wake services will be held on November 13th at Hanley Funeral Home from 4PM-8PM, where family and friends are invited to gather and honor his memory.
The Memorial Mass will be at Saint Ann's RC Church on Saturday November 16, at 9:30am. Following will be a burial at Saint John's cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnels for Tower or PLUTO Rescue in Daniel's name, reflecting his spirit of giving.
Rest in peace, Daniel. You will be deeply missed.
