Daniel O'Neill, known to most as Danny or Dan, passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 61. He will be remembered for his enormous heart, quick wit, and the kind of humor that could light up any room-and leave everyone wondering what he'd say next.
Danny loved to eat. If food was around, he wanted a bit of everything-and often took it. Only after he'd finished the last bite would he turn and ask if you wanted some. That was Danny: funny, unapologetic, and full of life.
As a kid, Danny was famously late for school. So late, in fact, that he regularly earned detention both before and after the school day. He found this especially funny, since the idea of showing up early for detention when he couldn't even make it on time for the bell was, in his mind, a joke in itself.
One of the most legendary Danny stories happened on one of those late mornings. As he walked to school, a squirrel was electrocuted on a power line and fell-yes, directly onto his head. For once, he had a good excuse. Whether anyone believed it or not is another story, but that moment became classic Danny lore.
Danny spent many years working as a substance abuse counselor, a path inspired by his own experience. He understood the struggle of addiction and the strength it takes to remain clean. With compassion and honesty, he helped countless others find hope and healing. His work left a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to cross his path.
Danny adored animals-especially his beloved cat, Zoe-and found joy in every creature, even the unexpected guests Zoe brought home. His love for life extended to all animals around him.
Danny was a dear brother to Vincent (Denise), Veronica (Rudy), Eileen (Bill), Barbara (Joseph), Colleen (Robert), and Kerry Ann (Billy). He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him for his big laugh, his bigger heart, and the countless stories that made him one of a kind.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Bernard and Ann O'Neill, as well as his sister Anne and brothers Patrick and Thomas along with his lifelong friend/brother Anthony, all of whom he held close to his heart.
A celebration of Danny's life will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 10 - 11 am at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A Service will conclude the morning. His legacy of laughter, compassion, and resilience will live on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

My sincere condolences to the O'Neill family. My family and I knew Danny (and most of his brothers and sisters) well when we were teenagers and then as a man. We met while his sister and my mom worked together and then we both became employed at Jule's Restaurant as well. We hung out frequently and I have to say Danny was one of the nicest people and friend you could hope for even during the toughest of times he was always willing to give you a helping hand. Rest in Peace Danny.
