Daniel Parana Obituary

Daniel M. Parana, 58, of San Antonio, Texas passed away, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas following a sudden illness. He was born on November 10, 1967 in Ridgway, Pennsylvania. A son to Edward G. Parana and Delores F. Parana.
He lived in Wilcox, Pennsylvania for most of his childhood and was a graduate of Johnsonburg area High School. He studied at Penn State University before entering the United States Air Force in 1988 where he served four years. While in the Air Force he was stationed at RAF Fairford in England, where his father and brother visited him, as well as a brief station in the Philippines. He was honored to serve our country.
While stationed in San Antonio, Texas he met his wife, Cindy. They married in 1994 and made San Antonio their home.
He attended UTSA where he received both a bachelor's and master's degree. He built his career as a financial analyst at USAA for 27 years. He enjoyed many of the relationships he had with his co-workers and the work he did there.
He had unmeasurable love for his three children. He was very involved with all of their sports: he loved traveling, always attended their baseball, basketball, soccer and hockey practices, and never missed a game. He enjoyed playing golf and the time spent with all of his children on the course. A huge sports fan, he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. At gatherings with family and friends, he loved barbecuing and achieving the perfect smoke ring on his famous bacon wrapped pork loins. He loved his family in Pennsylvania and always stayed in close contact with them despite the physical distance. He lived selflessly, always willing to offer help and do anything for anyone.
He is preceded in death by his mother, his son Seth Parana, and his brother Brian Parana.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Parana, his son, Brett Parana (Hannah), his daughter, Katrina Parana (Momen), his father, George Parana, his sister Brenda Cleer and her companion Mike Rich of Kane, his brothers Robert Parana of Wilcox, and David Parana (Emily) of Kane, Nieces, Marisa Cleer (Brayden) and Kate Parana, Nephews, Kevin Cleer and Matt Parana, many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
A precious life that was taken from us way too soon, he will be dearly missed and in our hearts forever.
A visitation and reception will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, located at 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas, 78232, on January 5, 2026, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
