Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center on Feb. 12, 2026.
George Richard Shears, age 77, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Sarah Moore Home on February 11, 2026.

Born to George Warren and Flora Mae (Ferguson) Shears in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania. Graduating from Hopewell High School in 1967, George attended Penn State University.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Lou (Shears) Monahan; brother-in-law, Mark Beers; and son-in-law, Alex Smith.

George is survived by his wife, Marianne (Nalli) Shears; sister-in-law, Paulette (Nalli) Beers of Aliquippa, PA; brother-in-law, Dan (Marianne) Nalli of Aliquippa, PA; daughter, Katharine (Michael Gibson) Smith of Coshocton, Ohio; sons Rick (Lee) Shears of Bellevue, Ohio; Mark of Smyrna, Delaware; and grandchildren Joey, Halia, Quinn, Tony, Zach, Kaitlynn (Andrew) Russell, Eric (Kristi) Whitaker, and unofficially "adopted" grand-daughter, Tiffany Sells; great-grandchildren Landon, Gabe, Bennett, and Chase. Many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

George's professional career included many manufacturing and industrial roles focused on quality control and inspection, including Babcock & Wilcox Steel, McDonald Douglas, and Sikorsky Helicopter, but he was most proud of his work at Rockwell International with the B-1 Bomber. George enjoyed spending his spare time tinkering in the garage, working on a car, or "fixing" one of the many treasures he found at a yard sale, flea market, or auction.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ohio Living Sarah Moore for the care and support they provided George, and Ohio Living Hospice for their service and compassion during George's last days.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date in Aliquippa, Pa. Internment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Alliquippa.
