Daniel "Bump" Russell Ryan, age 89, entered into eternal life on January 30, 2026. Bump was a lifelong Braintree native. Mr. Ryan was a Deputy Chief for the Braintree Fire Department. He also owned and operated Leech Brothers Moving Company. Daniel served in the US Army. He belonged to the Men of St Joseph Society and the Order of Saint Francis. He co-founded the Miramar Christian Firefighters of the Cross, and was a Knight of Columbus, Braintree Council. He volunteered as a longtime Eucharistic minister at South Shore Hospital. He was a lifetime communicant at St. Thomas More Church. Bump loved spending time at his place in New Hampshire. Beloved husband of Marylou (Townson). Devoted father of Daniel "Tommy" Ryan (BFD) and his wife Denise of Holbrook, Sarah Janovsky and her husband Glenn of Braintree, the late Theresa, John, and Daniel L. Ryan. Loving grandfather to Christina, Anthony, Andrea, Danny Boy, Danny Guys, Sarah Jane, Julia, Jason, and Josh, as well as 4 Great-grandchildren. Devoted brother to the late Anne Hirsch. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St., Weymouth Landing on Friday, February 6 at 8:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 864 Washington St., Braintree at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.
