Daniel Stoey Obituary
Dan was born to parents Sophie and Anthony Stoey on August 3, 1935. He attended St. Florian Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Thomas the Apostle High School, Class of 1954. He was very proud of his catholic education.
Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce (nee: Kwiatkowski); daughter Cheryl Stoey; son Daniel Stoey (Lisa); grandson Tyler Crowell; brother Richard Stoey (Marty); and living Kwiatkowski family members Gladys Popko, Evelyn Krynicki (Daniel), and Florence Smolinski.
He was predeceased by his daughter Susan Crowell and many members of a large Kwiatkowski family, whom he had happy, wonderful memories.
He had a special friendship with Dan and Maryann Bujan for more than 50 years.
Dan was employed by the GM Research Labs for 38 years as a skilled trade pipefitter and Supervisor of Maintenance. He loved his GM family and looked forward to monthly lunch with the maintenance guys and monthly breakfast with the GM retiree group.
Dan served in the Army National Guard in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Bliss, Texas and was honorably discharged.
Dan loved sports. He was a competitive athlete and played basketball, softball, and bowled. He took up golf in his retirement years and had his first hole in one at the age of 82! He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Murphy Council.
Dan loved poker, pinochle, board games with his grandson, and dogs. His love and dedication to his family as well as his "never give up" love of life are his greatest legacy.
Visitation Wednesday 2-8pm with a 7pm Prayer Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile), Sterling Heights. Instate Thursday 9:30am until time of 10am Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church, 32000 Mound Rd. (S. of 14 Mile Rd.), Warren. Private interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. NEVER MET MR. STOEY, BUT I DO REMEMBER HOW HIS BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER CHERYL WOULD SIMPLY LIGHT UP, SMILE AND GLOW EVERYTIME SHE SPOKE AOUT HER DAD! ESPECIALLY ONE NIGHT AT DINNER IN 2017 IN ALEXANDRIA CHERYL, MY PRAYERS AND LOVE GO OUT TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AGOD BLESS. THOMAS HECKER
