WOODSVILLE – Daniel Edward Unangst was born on June 18, 1974, and passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 50.
He is the son of Robert W. Unangst, Jr., and Cecilia A. (Robson) Unangst. Daniel was born at Huntington Hospital in Huntington, N.Y. He lived in Huntington until his family moved to Colebrook, N.H. in 1985. He attended the Perkins School for the Blind from September,1986, until his graduation in February,1995.
Dan lived a full life and loved to smile and joke with others. He enjoyed dancing and music. Dan was clever and had the ability to influence other people's point of view. He surprised people by what they could learn from him about how they perceive those with disabilities.
After graduating from the Perkins School, Dan lived in Littleton, N.H., for 28 years. He was supported by his dedicated home care provider, Karen Roy, and the compassionate teams at Littleton Common Ground and TruGranite Service Coordination, which allowed him to live an active, engaged life. Dan founded 'It's in the Bag Courier Service,' where he provided essential mail, bank, and food deliveries within the local community. He also worked at the Littleton Library, where his friendly face and warm smile were a familiar sight to many.
Dan was predeceased by his beloved mother, Cecilia, and is survived by his father, Robert; his brother, David, and his wife, Cindy, of Ashland, N.H.; his sister, Suzanne MacDonald, and her husband, Bruce, of Gorham, N.H.; and his aunts and uncles: Thomas Robson of Whitefield, NH, Anne Unangst of Montpelier, Vt., Peggy and Patrick Mariani of Wilder, Vt., Mary Charlton of Deep River, Conn., and Susan and William Hersh of Athol, Mass. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Nicholas, Hannah, Summer, and Fletcher.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A graveside interment service will be later in the spring in the Colebrook Village Cemetery, of which notice will be given.
