Danny Edwards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Goldsboro on Aug. 20, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Danny Keith Edwards, a devoted public servant, beloved family man, and faithful friend, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at the age of 66. Born in Wilson County on January 17, 1959, he was the son of the late Amos and Louise Edwards.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Edwards and Preston Edwards and longtime friend, Bill Harrell.

Danny is survived by his wife, Shana Edwards; son, Jonathan Edwards and wife, Beth; daughters, Emily Smith and husband, Alex, Lea Patterson and husband, Zac, Alaina Williams and husband, Shane; special daughter, Hannah Edwards; grandchildren, Gracie Edwards, Hayden Rose Williams, Banner Patterson, Anniston Smith, and Forrest Williams; along with two grandchildren who are on the way, Landon Edwards and Baby Smith; sister, Dianne Edwards Brock; brothers, Dennis Edwards and wife, Robin and Donnie Edwards and wife, Patricia. Danny is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patsy Edwards and several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Service was not just something Danny did - it was who he was. From a young age, he answered the call to serve, beginning as a junior firefighter. Over the next five decades, Danny gave more than 50 years of combined service to the people of his community through the Goldsboro Rescue Squad, the Mar Mac Fire Department, and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. He was an active and respected member of each organization, proudly serving on the fire department honor guard and water rescue team, and as a member of the sheriff's department dive team.

Danny's service extended beyond uniforms and titles - he was always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or simply show up when others needed him most. He lived out his commitment to others not only through his public roles but in the quiet, everyday ways he supported family, friends, and neighbors.

Family was at the heart of Danny's world. He cherished time with his loved ones, whether it was a day on the boat, casting a line while fishing, grilling up a meal, or enjoying a relaxing trip to the beach. He especially treasured time spent traveling with his wife and family, creating memories that will be held close by all who loved him.

Danny spent most of his working life alongside his parents and siblings at Edwards Truck Service, a business that was not just a livelihood, but a cornerstone of his family's bond and values.

A man of faith, Danny attended Love Memorial Baptist Church, where he found spiritual strength and fellowship.

Danny will be remembered for his servant's heart, his love of family, and his tireless dedication to making the world around him a better, safer place. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, humility, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A service to celebrate Danny's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at The First Church with Rev. Richard Toler and Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Wayne Memorial Park with honors rendered by the Mar Mac Fire Department and Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
