Danny Schipani, 92, of Old Bridge, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in South Beach, Staten Island, Danny was the devoted son of the late Dominick and Sara Schipani. He spent his early years in Staten Island, where he would go on to meet and marry the love of his life, Carmela, Weenie Mezacappa. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their family with love, strength, and unwavering devotion. Danny wore many hats throughout his life devoted husband, proud father, hardworking provider, and self-taught handyman. He began his working years at St. Johns Villa and later became one of the first bus drivers for Pioneer Buses, a job he was proud of and loved deeply. After retiring from Pioneer, Danny continued his dedication to service as a maintenance man at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home. There was little Danny couldnt fix. A natural tinkerer with an incredible knack for repairs, he was a self-taught mechanic and the go-to man for anything that needed mending. Danny was an avid car lover and found great joy in working on them, whether it was tuning up an engine, restoring old parts, or simply spending time in the garage. His passion for cars was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his hands-on spirit and love for learning. His hands were always busy, and his heart was always full, especially when surrounded by his family. After losing his beloved wife of 47 years, Weenie, in 2006, Danny stayed strong through the love of his children and the joy of becoming a grandfather and great-grandfather, a role he cherished most. Whether playing cards or a lively game of LCR, Danny was happiest in the company of those he loved. His sense of humor, gentle spirit, and boundless love for his family were constants in his life. Danny was predeceased by his beloved wife, Weenie; his brothers, Joe, Ray, and Anthony; and his daughter-in-law, Dot. He is survived by his loving children: Danny, Phyllis and her husband Frank, and Cammy and her husband Dennis. He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren: Frankie and his wife Mary, Matthew and his wife Alexandra, Kristan and her husband George, Danny, Dennis and his wife Stephanie, Kevin, and Nicole. Danny was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and whom he treasured deeply. Danny will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday at Most Holy Redeemer Church located at 133 Amboy Road Matawan, New Jersey 07747. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
