Frankfort – Danny Dale Watkins, age 78, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, after a three-month illness. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, with Rev. Mike Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Community Cemetery. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Danny was born on Valentine's Day in 1946, to the late Irvine and Virginia Harrod Watkins of Frankfort. He was a graduate of Bald Knob School, Franklin County High School (Class of 1964), and the University of Kentucky. Danny was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church, the National Rehabilitation Association, the National Hospital Association, the National Hearing Officers Organization, and the Kentucky Society of CPAs. After two-and-a-half decades of service, he retired as a CPA from the Kentucky State Government. Following, he enjoyed living on and operating the multi-generational Watkins Bros. Farm. He was the youngest and last of the remaining three brothers, Ronald and Carl Thomas Watkins.
Danny was a lover of life, family, friends, and good character. His caring presence will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by three step-children, John Hunt Davis of Sulphur, Kentucky; Beth Davis Lambert (Bobby), of Franklin, Tennessee; and David Renwick of Frankfort; a niece, Laurie Watkins of Frankfort, and nephew, Mark Thomas Watkins, of Frankfort; five grandchildren, Caroline Davis Campbell (Reid) of Frankfort; twins, Jack Nelson Davis and Samuel Jo Davis of Lawrenceburg; Olivia Grace Lambert, and Eliza Beth Lambert of Franklin, Tennessee; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Reid Campbell, of Frankfort, and two great-nieces, Elizabeth and Vanessa Watkins, of Frankfort.
In addition to his parents and brothers, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Goin Watkins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Watkins, David Harrod, Daryl Snook, Roy Gene Snook, Sam Davis, and Jack Davis.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Lebanon Community Cemetery Fund or the American Lung Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
