Darius "Diesel" Raymond Vallad, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on November 16th, 2023. Born on November 22, 1961, in Standish, Michigan. Darius was the son of the late Harold and Florence Vallad.
Darius is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Rhonda (LaPonsey) of 39 years. Darius is also survived by two children, his son Jason Vallad with his wife Rachel and their children Clayton, Addison, Paisley and Paige. His daughter Janessa Thomas with her husband Brad and their son Xander. He was the youngest of four siblings, Denise (Dale) Daniels, Daryl (Dora) Vallad and Doreen (Ken) Kendall. Darius was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Florence Vallad and grandson, Isaac Vallad.
Darius attended Standish-Sterling High School and lived in Standish for most of his life. In the simplest words Darius was the nicest, kindest person you could meet. Darius had an exuberance and joyfulness that just made others happy. His passion for life and infectious smile made Darius everyone's best friend. A son first, Darius always looked out for his folks living next door for most of his life. As a brother, and the baby of the family, Darius always had people looking out for him and his siblings made him feel extra special. Becoming a father and grandfather was the fulfillment of a lifetime for Darius. Proud at all times Darius never missed a chance to brag about the accomplishments of his family.
Darius loved to spend time with his family and friends. He would never miss a chance to see his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews play any game, any day or time of the week. Darius enjoyed a good game of poker, euchre, a ride on his Harley, a Nascar race and visiting his many friends. Darius and Rhonda especially enjoyed the many rock concerts they attended together throughout the years (but especially AC/DC). A consummate Detroit Lions fan, through good times and bad, Sundays and Thanksgiving were a must watch. Darius had recently retired from Northern Tube where he had many friends and served as the unions Treasurer. Darius will be dearly missed by all but his kindness and love will never be forgotten.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday November 21, 2023, at 11 am from Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner presiding. Family will greet family and friends on Monday from 1 to 8 pm at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home -STANDISH CHAPEL. A Vigil Service will be held at 7 pm Monday evening.
