Darla R. Jarred, 64, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on September 4, 2024. Darla was born in Evansville on July 31, 1960, the daughter of William Darby Jarred and Elaine (Wilson) Bradley.
Darla graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and later obtained her beautician license from Rogers Academy. She loved people and helping others out, which led her to become a Nurse's Aide and work at the Nursing Home for many years, caring for several patients. Darla liked painting and crocheting. She especially loved taking rides on her brother's motorcycle.
Darla is survived by her brother, Darby Jarred; nephew, Will Jarred, great niece and nephew, William and Willow; aunts, Bessie Allyn, Brenda Wilson, Vicki Wilson (special friend and caregiver); Joyce (Ralph) Illingworth; uncles, Bump (Karen) Wilson, and Glen Jarred; adopted daughter and grandson, Cherrel Bacon and Kendrick Bacon; and companion, James Pratte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents Hap and Dorothy Wilson, and paternal grandparents Bill and Ann Jarred.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Nathanial Denning officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 am until service time. I met Darla the first day of Kindergarten at West Elementary, Mrs. Menzer's afternoon class, 1965. She was one of my first friends. She was a pretty, sweet, nice little girl. We were friends all through school, sometimes spending the night together at her house. One of those times in particular we stayed up all night watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon over Labor Day weekend. I always think of Darla during Labor Day. May she rest in peace.
