Darlene Theresa Gaona Phillips, 56, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 6, 1965, to Ralph R. and Janet Lee Coon Gaona. She was raised in Ogden. Then later moved to Illinois for a time and then back to Ogden, Utah, attending and graduating from Ogden High School in 1983. After graduation she worked for Alpha Beta Grocery Store and later at Manor Care and Deseret Industries.
She met Aaron L. Phillips at Alpha Beta and they were married in June of 1996. They had one daughter, Harlie and later divorced.
Darlene loved painting, cross-stich, camping, and fishing. She will be remembered affectionately as "Leene". She had integrity, grit and character. She will be dearly missed by those who loved and knew her best.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Harlie; mother, Janet; and siblings, Paul, John, Nelson, Barbara and Michael. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph R. Gaona.
Darlene's daughter wants to thank all of the hospital staff, especially the nurses and doctors at McKay Dee for the care Darlene received till it was her time.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
