Darlene Elizabeth Haley, 84 of Lebanon Junction, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Baptist Hospital with her family by her side.
She was a Christian by faith and actively involved at Shepherdsville Christian Church. Darlene attended St. Catherine College and Spalding University before becoming a teacher with Bullitt County Public Schools where she taught for over 40 years and earned her Rank I from the University of Louisville. Her reach went far outside the classroom as she served on the board of the Bullitt County Health Department for 10 years, was an NEA Member, a member of the Eastern Star for over 60 years, was on the Foster Care Review Board for 10 years and was also a member of Dare to Care. She loved her community and was honored to serve in many different capacities.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Catherine Carter; her sister Donna Dean Doan; and a beloved nephew Donald Doan.
Darlene is survived by her son Keith Haley and his wife Lisa; her daughter Susan Wise and her husband Pat; her grandchildren Julie Goode (Chris), Erin Dones (Jeremy), Rachel Lawson (Eric) and Carissa Haley; her great grandchildren Paisleyann Carter, Hayden, Emerson and Skye; her other beloved nephew Greg Doan (Sheila).
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Shepherdsville Christian Church. Cremation will follow before a private inurnment at Hebron Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church.
In lieu of flowers the family request a donation be made to either the Alzheimer's Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
