Darlene Owens Smith, 72, passed away October 14, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born October 2, 1951, to the late James Paul Owens & Hazel Elizabeth Greene Owens.
She worked at Heatec and retired from Siskin Steel as a purchasing agent. She was very considerate of others and always eager to lend a helping hand where needed. She had a heart of gold. She was an excellent cook and loved feeding family and friends. She enjoyed reading recipes and working crossword puzzles. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Robert (Bob) Lee Smith; son, Edwin (Lee) Lowry, Jr.(Jessica) ; daughter, Robin Patricia Finnell; siblings, Mildred Mathis (Melvin), Jackie Ellison (Freddie), Diane McClain Dunmire ( Carey), James Owens (Gale), Richard Owens (Jenny), James Webb (Misty), and Marlene Newell; nieces, Melvia, Mendy, Linda, JoAnna, Belinda, Heather, Rachael, Chole, Evanie; nephews, Richie, Donny, Howell, David, Shane, and Jamie ; grandchildren, Brandon (Chelsea), Nathaniel (Heather), Madison (Pedro), and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Rosie, Adrian, Bryleigh, Riven, Aurora, and Matthew.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Companion Funeral Home & Crematory-Chattanooga, 6018 John Douglas Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel, 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 19, 2023, with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating. The burial will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens South, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Boynton Baptist Church, 4093 Boynton Drive in Ringgold, GA.
