Darrell Bicknell

1937 - 2025

Darrell T. Bicknell, 88, of Berea, KY and Vero Beach, FL passed away on December 16th, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born in Panola, Madison County, KY to the late Ewey Wilson Bicknell and Ethel Rose Bicknell.

Darrell played basketball for Waco High School and Berea High School. After graduating from Berea High School, he received a full basketball scholarship from Western Kentucky University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree. After graduation, he served two years of active service in the Army Reserves. Following the Army Reserves, he coached basketball at Berea High School for three years.

A lifelong resident of Kentucky and Florida, Darrell was a dedicated businessman and entrepreneur who was well known for his love of competition in sports, particularly tennis and golf.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy Kirkland Bicknell; his devoted son, Kyle Bicknell (Rachael); his sister-in-law, Peggy Bicknell of Vero Beach, FL & Wilmore, KY; nieces, Kim Hagan (Cliff), Jennifer Gayle Bicknell, Cheryl Bicknell, all of Vero Beach, FL; nephew, Craig Shearer of St. Augustine, FL; brother-in-law James H. Kirkland (Ola) of Grant, AL; sister-in-law Shelby Jean Brewer of Guntersville, AL; nieces, Jennifer Brewer of Huntsville, AL, Renee Brewer of Seattle, WA, Natalie Vellturo (Chris) of Cape Cod, MA; nephews Roger Brewer (JoDonna) of Grant, AL, and Jamey Kirkland (Andrea) of Birmingham, AL.

Darrell was preceded in death by his cherished son, Travis Bicknell; his brother, Rudy Bicknell; and his sister, Bulah Ruth Shearer.

Darrell was a member of the Berea Baptist Church. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him as a devoted family man with an enduring entrepreneurial drive and competitive spirit.
