Born July 25, 1946 in Norton, VA, Mr. Thacker was the son of the late Richard Thacker and Dolly (Penland) Thacker. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Richard Thacker, Sue Jennings, Judy Domnel, Linda Cunningham, Fayer O'Conner, and Bea Dobbins; and a daughter-in-law: Anita Thacker.
A United States Army Veteran, Darrell retired from Montgomery County Government and also Maryland State Highway Administration as an operator. He loved hunting and spending time with his family.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 55 years: Linda Thacker; his son: Kevin Thacker; his grandsons: Blake and Ellis Willard; and Jacob and Regan Thacker; as well as his sister: Theresa Gannaway.
Per his request, he will be cremated and services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the animal charity of choice.
