Darren will be fiercely remembered for his work ethic, beautiful smile, and sense of humor. There wasn't anyone he wouldn't help. He always had a passion to start his own business, and with hard work and dedication, Evolution Lawn and Landscape was created in January of 2012, and continues to thrive to this day due to his rapport with his customers and his unwavering determination. Darren was a lover of the outdoors and loved camping, which is where you would find him every summer holiday with all his best friends. He was also a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved watching all football games.
Darren is survived by his loving wife and partner of 34 years, Stacie Hykes, his pride and joy daughter Jenna Hykes along with the son he never had Gabriel Yoder-Baker, his adoring mother Daylene Hykes, parents-in-law David and Benita Holcomb of Mineral City, and Russ and Lori Whitmer of Navarre, siblings-in-law Steven (Marie) Whitmer and Justin (April) Whitmer, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored. Darren is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale and Stella Hykes.
Heaven gained a good one too soon. He will be in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar with Pastor Bill Eckert officiating. Burial will follow in East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. To share a memory, please visit the funeral home's web site.
