Darryll Lee Brady of Powderly, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 5th, 2025 after a long battle with service-related Parkinson’s disease.

Darryll was born in Seminole, Oklahoma, April 14th, 1941 to Martin and Jean Brady. He was baptized in and attended First Christian Church in Seminole. He graduated Varnum High School in 1959 and was a starter on the Class B State Championship baseball team in 1956. During the summer after high school, Darryll worked for the Amerada Oil Company to earn money to attend East Central University. He also played semi-pro baseball.

He married Nancy Hines on August 10th, 1963 in St. Louis, Oklahoma and remained married for 61 years until his death. A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor during the Tet Offensive in 1968. After the war, Darryll worked 23 years for Westinghouse Electric, first as a salesman and then as a branch manager. For the next 24 years, he worked for Western Farmers Electric Co-op in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma as Purchasing and Inventory Manager, retiring in 2009.

Darryll was a devoted husband and father to his two sons. He enjoyed coaching summer league baseball, reading Louis L’Amour westerns, and watching cowboy movies. He was an avid fisherman, and a lifelong fan of O.U. football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Darryll possessed a remarkable ability to build things with both metal and wood and through the years built two homes for his family. His ability to create and build ranged from fences to barns to trailers. His construction advice to his two sons will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife Nancy (Hines) Brady, his two sons, Matt Brady and wife Lorena of Missouri, and Paul Brady of Texas, his sister Virginia Hughey and husband Roy, of Yukon, Oklahoma, and their two sons, David and Brian, and their children.

Services are scheduled for Monday, March 10th, 2025 at 1 P.M. in the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in Little Cemetery in Seminole County.
