Dave Ray Obituary

Born in Hudson, NY on December 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Clayton Peter Ray and Gertrude Pearl Ryan Ray. Dave was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School and Fordham University.
Dave made his living as a pharmacist, starting at Molloy Pharmacy in Hyde Park. He also co-owned Copake Pharmacy then continued in the profession until retiring.
Dave was very active in his community. He was a former Commodore at Rogers Point Boat Club in Hyde Park, former Town of Hyde Park Councilmember for eight years, and former Board Member of the Town of Hyde Park Historical Society. He currently served on the Board of Trustees for the Hyde Park Free Library and was also involved with the Pharmacist Recovery Network.
Those who knew Dave well can attest to his offbeat sense of humor and his love for Hyde Park and its history. Dave was often the life of the party. He enjoyed socializing and meeting new people with a way of making a stranger feel like a friend. His colorful stories are legendary and have entertained many over the years. Dave was also an avid sports fan, especially of his Giants -football & baseball.
On December 2, 1967, he married the former Joanne Elizabeth Senkier. Mrs. Ray predeceased him on July 16, 2011.
Dave is survived by his four children, Mark (Nat), Sean, Susan, and Patrick; three grandchildren, Casey (Casey), Chelsey, and Caytley and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Amelia.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte, and two brothers, Ryan and William.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM, Friday, September 1st at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A celebration of Dave's life will take place at 6 PM.
