He was known as a handsome man and always dressed sharp for work or play. Dave was a true cowboy and a hard worker his entire life and made friends wherever he went that loved him dearly. He loved collecting antiques, old construction machinery and watching his favorite movie Gunsmoke.

He is survived by four children, Shannon Rodriguez, Bryce (Jamie) Vandersteen, Racheal Roskelly and Cole Shafer, three brothers and four sisters, Earlene Hill, Sharon Seifert, Sue (Mike) McDowell, Sandy (Ronny) Christensen, Buck (Sherrie) Shafer, Bob Shafer, Mont Shafer, his close sister Shaunda Young (DOE), five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Liz Shafer and two nieces.

Dave had a special companion Rhonda that he spent time with. The family would like to express their thanks to her for being there for him before his passing.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Dave for a long time although I did not work directly with him it was always fun to work with him. He had a great sense of humor and was a very dedicated employee and even more important a great human being. May he rest in peace.
