A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Kaplan, Louisiana, for Daveveene Broussard Gallet, age 86, who passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, three hours before her 87th birthday. Father Joshua Guillory will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and officiate the services. Lector will be Ellen Hargrave and Patricia LeDoux, pianist and soloist, will provide musical selections during the Mass. The interment will be held at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan. Pallbearers will be Joshua Gallet, René Broussard, Paul Hebert, Lance Vincent, Kenneth White, and John DeCuir.
Daveveene, born on October 21, 1937, in Kaplan to Otis and Esther Broussard, departed this world surrounded by her family's love. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Daveveene graduated from E. Broussard High School in Forked Island. She was a homemaker before attending cosmetology school, becoming one of the area's most popular beauticians. For approximately 15 years, she owned and operated Hair Vogue in Kaplan. She was dedicated to her clientele and had a thriving business with a devoted following.
Daveveene found joy in the simple pleasures of cooking and gardening. She loved fashion and being creative.
Daveveene was preceded in death by her husband, Vernes François Gallet, of Kaplan; her mother, Esther Kimball Broussard, of New Hampshire; her father, Otis Paul Broussard, of Cow Island; and one sister, Carol Broussard Trahan, of Kaplan.
Left to cherish her are her daughter, Charlotte Gallet Broussard (Dwain) of Kaplan; her son, Joshua François Gallet (Alison) of Kaplan; one grandson, Rene François Broussard (Sarah) of Kaplan, and one great-granddaughter, Ivy Marie Broussard. She is also survived by three sisters: Loretta Broussard Davidson of Leroy, Pauline Broussard Vincent of Kaplan, and Jackie Broussard Melancon of Kaplan.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm until the time of services.
