David Lee Adcock—known lovingly as Papaw by his family—was born on December 24, 1957. He was the best Papaw in the world, always able to bring a smile to anyone’s face. His laughter was contagious, his stories were unforgettable, and his jokes could brighten even the dullest of days.
Papaw had a deep love for music. Whether he was strumming his guitar or playing air guitar to one of his favorite songs, music filled his life with joy. One of his best musical talents was being able to listen to any song and pick up the chords as he listened, and play it just like the song. One of his favorites was “Under the Bridge” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers—a song he loved to sing with you while running errands or teaching you how to play.
He was also a great listener, someone who could sit and talk for hours, making everyone feel heard and cared for. He was a retired electrician for Westlake Electric. He loved to talk about his future plans from travel, to fixing up his truck and motorcycle, to getting a dachshund puppy and much more. Another thing he loved was motorcycles. He loved everything about them—the sound, the look, and especially the feeling of freedom they brought on the open road.
Above all, Papaw adored his wife, Beth Schrake. He loved her to the moon and back, and together they shared a beautiful bond built on care, laughter, and devotion. For 30 wonderful years, they took care of each other through everything life brought their way. Now, they are together once again in heaven—forever united and watching over all of us with love and peace.
Papaw wouldn’t want us to be sad. He would want us to live fully—to laugh, to love deeply, and to find joy in every moment of our lives. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will always be near. This isn’t goodbye—it’s simply “see you later,” until we meet again in heaven.
