David Carlton Bennett, of Mesick, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at his home. He was 76.

David was born on October 24, 1948 to George and Ileen (Otto) Bennett in Brighton, Michigan. On May 5, 1973 he entered into marriage with the former Susan Snay in Dexter, Michigan. He dedicated 18 years of his career working as a truck driver for Con-Way Freight in Cadillac, until his time of retirement. In his spare time, he could often be found outside cutting wood or working in his garage. He loved gathering with friends and family to shoot a game of pool and catch up. In his younger years, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing. David had a passion for classic cars and owned a '67 Chevelle that he drag raced for many years. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Susan Bennett of Mesick; two sons, Jerry (Juliette) Bennett of Arizona and Jeff (Angie) Bennett of Mesick; grandchildren, Collin (Scarlett) Bennett, Emma Bennett, Matthew Bennett and Sierra Bennett; a great-granddaughter, Lila; nephews, Mark and Neil Plohr; and many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ileen Bennett; and a sister, Gloria Plorh.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
