David Brown Obituary

Upon retiring from the State of Illinois, Dave volunteered with the Bergman Center and the Pegasus Special Riders, Inc. programs as a "riding for the handicapped" riding instructor assisting multiple people over the years. Known lovingly by the riders as "Cowboy Dave," his love of horses and cowboys also took him to working ranches in Colorado and Idaho for annual vacations.
David Brown is preceded in death by his mother, Hester Brown, father George Franklin Brown III, and brother George Franklin Brown IV. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Sara Brown, and four sons, Kenneth, Kevin, Steven, and Jeffrey.
A Funeral Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 606 W. Main St., Durand, IL. Burial to be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, IL. A visitation will be held Saturday morning at McCorkle Funeral Home - Durand Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Durand, IL from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Donations may be sent to the Pegasus Special Riders, Inc. program at 6668 South Carthage Rd., Oregon, IL 61061.

Cowboy Dave was one of my sons riding instructors at Bergman center and then at Hope Reigns Ranch. My son loved Cowboy Dave. He was a very special person. He will be greatly missed.
