David W. Burch, 76 of Bloomington, passed away Friday afternoon at University Hospital in Indianapolis surrounded by his family. He was born December 28, 1948 in Linton, Indiana to Wandley Burch and Ruby Alice Bartley Burch.
He was a graduate of Eastern Greene High School and obtained both his undergraduate and master's degrees in education from Indiana University. He returned to Eastern Greene School and spent his entire professional career teaching middle school and high school for over 40 years in both subjects of Science and Spanish. In addition to his teaching duties, he was also a track and cross-country starter for the IHSAA and spent 35+ years on the staff of Indiana University event services ushering various I.U. athletic events.
David and his wife of nearly 55 years, Patti, were longtime members of Solsberry Christian Church before moving their membership to Little Cincinnati Christian Church, closer to their home.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patti Bryant Burch, their two daughters, Suella Burch, and Joanna Voors and Joanna's husband Jeff; grandchildren, Lennon Martin, Will Southwick, Maddy Voors, Ella Voors, Corrina Nordhoff, Ella Marie Nordhoff, brother-in-law, Garry Bryant, and nephews Matt Bryant and Kenny Bryant.
David was predeceased by his parents, two infant sons, Neal and Jeremy Burch, and his sister Rose Marie Burch.
David's funeral will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 S. Old State Rd. 37. Visitation will be held on Monday afternoon and evening from 3 PM until 8:00 PM as well as from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday before the service also at the funeral home.
