David W. Carlton, 89, of Bonita Springs, Florida, left us peacefully to go home with the Lord with his family by his side on July 14, 2025. Born in Marion, Indiana to Helen P. A proud graduate of Indiana University School of Business in May 1958, David married his college sweetheart, Marcella (Marcie) Robinson, in June of that year. Their enduring partnership spanned 67 years, filled with love, adventure, and family.
They moved to New Albany, IN where David began his career in the Robinson family business Robinson Nugent Inc., where he soon became a Senior Executive. He was very active with community organizations and served for many years with Joseph Rauch Inc. Center for those with disabilities among many others. He served as President of the Indiana University Varsity Club, reflecting his passion for his alma mater. His leadership extended to public service when appointed by the Indiana governor to the State Gaming Commission. He was a member of St. Johns Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon.
David was an athlete and was an avid runner into his 70's, but it was golf that topped his list of sports activities and he played regularly. He demonstrated his immense patience as he taught his two young daughters to play golf and instilled a love for the game in them. He enjoyed many golf trips with his friends to top golf designations around the world. He and Marcie also enjoyed several incredible adventures together; from walking the Great Wall in China, touring behind the Berlin Wall, to all over Europe, Australia and New Zealand. His favorite was the African Safari with the hot air balloon ride over the game park.
David and Marcie were "snow birds" for many years before making Bonita Springs, FL their permanent home. David was very active in his second home as well, serving on the board of their condominium and assisting with other local charities. David was deeply engaged in Christian fellowship and a devoted member of the Men's Group in his neighborhood.
