David Paul Cauwels, born on June 22, 1967, in Merced, CA, went home to our Heavenly Father peacefully in his home on December 19, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children. David was fully committed to the Lord and lived a life loving his family and those around him.
Growing up in Merced, Dave was raised by parents who loved theLord. He made friends that have lasted a lifetime. Dave attended and played football at Azuza Pacific University where he studied Communications. Dave began his career in pharmaceutical sales in '95, where made an eternal impact on the lives of the people he met in the medical field.
He later moved his family to North Carolina where he found his love for mountain biking and adventures with his kids. In 2012, Dave moved to Houston to be with his bride and best friend, Becky, where they made lasting memories with family, church, trail building, mountain biking, and many long lasting friendships.
Dave's true legacy, however, lies within his commitment to Christ and living his life for His glory. That single relationship made an impact on how he viewed all of his relationships. His passion and hope would be for everyone he met to come to know the Lord. Prayer was also something Dave lived by and was faithful in by praying for his friends, family, and especially his children.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Becky Cauwels, and their children, Ashley, Baylee, Blaine, Carter, Elias, Elliott, Kaya, and Jimmy. Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Jean Chalmers Cauwels. He is survived by his father and wife, Jack and Betty Cauwels, his sisters, Caryn, Denise, and Sue, and his brothers, Mark and Randy. Additionally, he was supported by numerous other friends and family members who held a special place in his heart. Our lives have forever been altered by Dave's impact.
Dave's love for the Lord and intentionality showed through the deep relationships he built over his 56 years here on earth. His memory will live on through the people who knew him, until one day we get to meet him again.
Memorial donations may be made to Joni & Friends through their website.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2023 at Church Street Funeral & Cremation. The family will have a reception with food following the service and all are welcome.
