David M. Dunn passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 68 at his residence in Lewiston, with loved ones by his side.

David was born on August 12, 1957, in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Malcolm A. Dunn from Richmond, Maine, and Katherine E. Foote of Amesbury, Massachusetts.

Dave enlisted in the army and left for boot camp on his 18th birthday in 1975. He was stationed in Heildeburg, Germany, where he was an MP. He was later stationed at Ft Devens, MA, as a house and bodyguard for a four-star general. He also did crime prevention and held credentials as a physical security inspector. He was honorably discharged in 1987 as a disabled veteran of the US Army.

He had an AAS Degree from Central Maine Technical College and graduated with honors, A BS Degree from USM/LA College, where he also graduated with honors, and an AA Degree from Andover College in applied science and legal studies.

From 2006 to 2013, he was a notary public. He was also a Dedimus of Justice for the State of Maine.

On December 15th, 1990, he was raised as a freemason at Ashlar Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M., 32 nd degree. He was also a member of the Kora Shrine Temple, AAONMS of Lewiston. Since 2013, he had been a Santa at the Shriners Christmas Tree Festivals. He took his role of Santa seriously and enjoyed talking to the children and seeing their excitement.

He worked at Fairchild Semiconductor as a wafer sort technician and a hardware manager until he retired in 2008.

David was an avid collector of coins, stamps, sportcards and masonic memorabilia, among other things. In his younger days, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a loyal, devoted, and loving husband. He was an excellent role model to all who knew him. He was very soft-hearted and wouldn't let anyone go without. He was well-loved and with be missed terribly.

David is survived by his wife, Jeanne A. (Girardin) Dunn of Lewiston; his two stepsons, Daniel R. Desrosiers of Lewiston, and Stephen S. Desrosiers and his wife, Wendy, also of Lewiston; and his stepdaughter, Laura J. Desrosiers of Lewiston. He also leaves behind four foster/grandchildren: Donald D. Tripp of Farmington; Alexis S-L Tripp of Lewiston; Harmony R. Tripp of Farmington; and Malcolm B. Gauthier of Lewiston. In addition, he is survived by his two sisters, Lois G. Blakesley of Maricopa, Arizona, and Tannis Bowie of Durham, Maine; a nephew, Lance Pepin of Lewiston; and two nieces, Amanda Pepin of Arizona and Rene' Peterson of Durham. He is also remembered by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

David was predeceased by his father, Malcolm A Dunn, in 1967; His Auntie ( BIO mother) Lois G. Foote, in 1986, and his mother, Katherine E. Foote, in 2009.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at the Maine Veterans' Cemetery in Augusta.

Instead of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in David's memory to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240.
