David Wilbur Edwards did it his way! Born, January 24, 1934, in the small coal mining town of Wanamie, Pennsylvania to loving parents, Richard and Anne Edwards. Anne passed away when David was the young age of seven. David grew up under his loving father's care, who never treated him differently with his disability. Nothing ever held David back, he graduated from Penn State College with a master's degree in psychology. David met a friend in college that helped him design his own artificial wooden legs. From birth David spent the majority of his life walking with braces. Once he wore his artificial legs, he'd stand tall at six foot, still shorter than his brother, Kenneth Edwards. David was a smooth talking bachelor with a sports jacket and convertible car. He ended up settling in the Broome County area, always throwing huge parties where you had to bring someone he didn't know. David never lost his suave, couth, or generosity through the years. David met a young lady, Barbara Edwards, and fell madly in love. David adored his wife and kids "DBJARMS". David and Barbara leave behind their five children; James, Anne, Richard, Michael, Sarah, several grandchildren and great grandchildren with memories of a hell of a guy. If you knew David you have a few of his best stories in mind. David was an entrepreneur that did everything from teaching to bow making, car parking, golf ranges, pay telephones, carnations and more. David's proudest moment in his career was when he took 200 disabled children to the Binghamton Arena for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus. Each child received a pretzel and soda as they watched the show. David passed away peacefully July 12, 2024, with his daughter, Sarah Edwards and granddaughter, Emily Edwards at his side. In David's last days he got to see his generations of family thrive and even contributed to helping with parties at Beautiful Barn Venue in Candor, NY. David may have grown up in a small town and passed in a small town but he was a big city guy that saw the world. We know David would want everyone to put $20 down for the Banker in Baccarat.

Dave was one of my favorite residents i´ve ever had the pleasure of caring for, he was always quick with a joke and im so grateful for the many times we shared laughs. my favorite memory is probably when they were holding a men´s breakfast one morning and i joking told him, "hey, bring me back some bacon." the morning continued and i completely forgot about the interaction until he came zooming over to me with two slices of bacon wrapped in a napkin at the bottom of his scooter.
may he and Barbara both rest in peace
