David Arthur English
July 23, 1949 – July 6, 2025
David Arthur English passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
Born on July 23, 1949, in Westfield, Massachusetts, David was the beloved son of the late Robert and Ruth English. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Jeffrey.
David was a cherished brother to Robert (late Janice), Gregory (Diane), Brian (Deborah), and Keith (late MaryAnne). He was a devoted and proud uncle to Lisa (Matthew), Courtney (Matthew), Andrea (James), Keith, Christopher, Matthew, John, Steven, Zachary, Roman, Gianna, Ivy, Theodore, Milo, Margaux, and Emmeline.
A proud graduate of Brother Rice High School, Class of 1967, David pursued his passion for storytelling by earning a degree in Journalism from Marquette University in 1971. He later achieved a Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin–Superior, reflecting his deep commitment to lifelong learning.
David's career and personal pursuits were guided by his love for writing, research, and the natural world. His professional life included many meaningful accomplishments, among them serving as the Public Relations Director for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources-a position that beautifully blended his talent for communication with his deep appreciation for the outdoors.
David had an insatiable curiosity, especially for world history, and authored a book about World War II. He was a gifted conversationalist, always eager to share a story or engage in thoughtful discussion. Whether at a family gathering or watching his favorite sports teams, David brought warmth, insight, and a great sense of humor to those around him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A brief funeral service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:30 AM.
