David Book Esh passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones in Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD. Dave was born on June 17, 1949 in Mifflin County, PA, to the late David Byler Esh and Reba Mae Ritzman.
He graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelors Degree in Education and moved to The Eastern Shore of Maryland to pursue his teaching career as an Elementary educator in Federalsburg, MD. Dave moved into a role as the Director of Adult Education at the Holly Center in Salisbury. He retired from Dove Pointe in 2011 as the Director of Community Services.
Dave enjoyed spending time with family, particularly at Chincoteague and Assateague where he enjoyed camping, surf fishing, and enjoying the surroundings. He was an excellent cook and loved spending time outdoors gardening, especially pickling his own cukes. Two of Dave's favorite hobbies were golf and photography. Additionally, he was a great fan of playing rock and roll and vinyl records. It was a rare occasion for him to miss doing a crossword puzzle, he was always up to the challenge. His dry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Trish Esh, former wife, Mabel "Mae" Esh, son, Michael Esh (Heather), daughter, Sarah Esh (Shane), and granddaughter, Lucy Riggs. Dave is also survived by sisters, Peg Noss and Susan Henderson, nieces and nephews, Jennifer Brackbill, Noah Brackbill, Kyle Noss, Beth Stepanzuk, Mitch Henderson, Joe Henderson, Corey Anderson, and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gail Switzer.
