David's family tree extends to include his sisters, Susan F. Sullivan of Marshfield, MA and Judith A. Foster of South Riding, VA, along with his brother Gene Emerson Foster of Jupiter, FL. and his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Sawyer) Foster of Jupiter, FL and Mary (Sullivan) Foster of Sagamore Beach, MA.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Josephine (Macalino) Foster Hertel of AK in 2008, his brother Donald W. Foster, M.D. of MA in 2016, and both of his parents, Silas Donald Foster of AZ in 1997 and Betsy Sears Taylor Foster of VT in 2012. David leaves behind a tapestry of extended family, including numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins scattered around Massachusetts, Florida, and Vermont.
David also maintained a lifelong friendship with Herb Mason of Claremont, NH. His rich military career spanned over many years and included several overseas deployments with the U.S. Air Force. Post-retirement, he served with the Department of Defense Civilian Mobility Air Command at Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson in Anchorage, AK. Although David's plans for a leisure-filled retirement beginning July 1st were cut short, his spirit continues living in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be missed, but his legacy of service to his country lives on.
Proud of his heritage, David was a 12th-generation Mayflower descendant of the pilgrim leader, Elder William Brewster, a testament to his New England roots. Born in Quincy, MA he was drawn to the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska. He was a die-hard New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox fan, and had a penchant for quick, grab-and-go meals from his favorite fast-food joints.
Final arrangements are under the care of Witzleben Legacy Funeral Home in Anchorage, AK.

Dave Foster and my mom were together for 8-10 years. My memories of Dave was that he was an awesome grandfather to my children; he played cards with them and other games. He also made delicious spaghetti and was always excited about steak night. My mom and him seemed happy; they had a lot of laughs and smiles that lit up a room. Dave always treated my kids like they were his own bio grandkids! He loved them a lot. Dave also was great at using coupons to save money! He would sit for hours looking and clipping coupons! Dave talked highly of his bio daughters and loved them a lot! We had met them a couple of times and they were very nice and beautiful! Dave was well liked and loved by my family. I wish his family the best and send positive vibes to all of them.

I miss you, brother! I miss our talks and our love of American history and enriching our minds. Most recently, we discussed watching the amazing series, "Into The Wild Frontier"; an in-depth account of how America expanded westward. Oh, goodness, that was fun!
