David M. Foushee went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2024.
He was born on July 4, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky to Bernard and Agnes Foushee. While attending Western High School, he decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a pipefitter. He was a journeyman with the UA Local 502 for over 35 years until he retired and focused on his most important job, being a papaw.
David had many hobbies that brought him joy in life. But above all else, he loved watching University of Kentucky basketball. He was not a quiet fan. If you knew David, you knew his love for the Wildcats. He rarely missed watching a game and would cheer, boo, and yell them on to victories.
If David had a choice of where to be, he would always choose to be on the beach. He loved being in nature. He was an avid outdoorsman: hunting, fishing, boating, being on the beach he loved it all. He took his family and spent most summer weekends on the lake where he would show off his waterski tricks. The fall was reserved for deer hunting with friends. After retirement, he spent his winters at the beach with his wife, Libby.
He never met an animal he didn't love, but he loved dogs the most. He's had many dogs throughout the years and they were his constant companions, riding shotgun in his truck or a golf cart. Dogs flocked to David and he loved them immensely.
His greatest love in life though was his family. He was a companion to his wife, a coach to his three children, a protector to his three sisters, and a prankster of a Papaw to his ten grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Libby; his children: Sarah (Justin), Chris (Kelly Jo), and Melissa; his ten grandchildren: Kailey, Maggie, Ally, Jonah, Lyla, Lilly, Lindsey, Cullen, Brooks, and Charlie; his sisters: Cindy (Mike), Alexine, and Benesia (Pat). He will be greeted in heaven by his parents Bernie and Agnes and his brother, Paul Michael.
His funeral will be held at Incarnation Catholic Church where he was a lifelong member on Monday, October 28th at 11:00 am. His visitation will be the day before, Sunday, October 27th from 2 pm-8 pm at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
