I looked forward to his class tremendously. I changed my area of interest from Africa to Mesoamerica upon completion of his intro class.

I attended UIUC as a graduate student of Dr. Stanley Ambrose in the late 1990s. I took a mesoamerican archaeology class, taught by Dr. Grove that really changed my region of interest. He was brilliant. He was reasonable about interpretations. He was a scientist too. I remember his lovely wife Susan also. Nothing but admiration and positive energy for Dr. Grove. He now knows much more than all of us. RIP.
