DAVID WILLIS HANKEE age 83 of Chagrin Falls, passed away on July 20, 2025. Beloved husband of Marybeth (nee Buechler) for 53 years; loving father of Andrew and Peter (Cassie); cherished brother of Roy and the late Jimmy; uncle, great uncle, and friend to many. David grew up in Slatington, PA where he established lifelong friendships with childhood friends. He played football at Catawba College and then in the NFL with the New York Jets and Baltimore Colts. David taught grade school English and was a successful salesperson. He met his beloved wife Marybeth in California, where their two boys were born. David was always involved with youth sports organizations from coaching soccer, baseball, football and wrestling. He was chairperson of the Kenston Invitational Tournament, a member of the Kenston Boosters, and was always willing to help kids excel in sports. Family, friends, and community meant everything to David. Friends and family are welcome to St. John Funeral Home, 16381 Chillicothe Rd, Bainbridge Twp., OH 44023 on Friday, October 3 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. with a closing service at 11 A.M. Interment to follow at Restland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held after the burial at Bainbrook Clubhouse, 8135 Stoney Brk Dr, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to your charity of choice in memory of David Hankee.
