David Roland Howington

David Roland Howington was born on March 11, 1942, in Akron, Ohio to Vernon Amber Timms and Melvia Ferguson. David passed away on February 20, 2022, in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 79. David married Carol Geisler on June 19, 1965, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. They were united for 38 years until Carol's passing on August 17, 2003. David worked for the MKT (the Katy) railroad from 1970 until his retirement. He was a signalman and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman.
David had a multitude of hobbies. An amateur history buff, he loved to travel to historic sites. He was a talented artist painting pictures of MKT trains and depots. He also was a skilled woodworker, even making a replica civil war cannon and carving award-winning sculptures. He spent time in Alaska, Arizona and Colorado panning for gold and gems and some may remember him out at Fort Washita with his buggies and horses. He loved riding his motorcycle and just recently he and his grandson Zane took a trip to his beloved Louisiana, where he grew up. David's passion was Model A Fords. He proudly drove his 1930 Model A around Durant.
David was preceded in death by is beloved wife Carol Howington; mother Melvia Howington; father Vernon Amber Timms; stepfather Joe Howington; sister Rosanelle Jordan and grandparents John Henry and Rose Ferguson.
Those left behind to carry on David's legacy are his daughters Lisa Karen Howington and Shelly Amber Howington; brother Marvin Timms; sister Faye Timms Bosley; step mother Faithe Timms; grandchildren Jonathan David Hammond, Zane Babb, Kaitlyn Jo-Amber Howington, Daniel Babb, Mary Elizabeth Rose Stone, Seth Frederick Stone and Emma-Leigh Carol Stone; great grandchildren Hannah Hammond, Jarrod Hammond, Riley Babb, Maddie Grace Hammond, Brayden Lee Kavoossi, Andy Babb, Zander Babb and Scarlett Carol Kavoossi and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. https://www.tributeslides.com/tributes/show/D72926Z2X55XKY94
