David A. Hunter

David Alexe Hunter, affectionately known as "Big Dave," passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 15, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic - Avon Hospital following a brief illness due to complications from diabetes. He was born on May 18, 1957, in Brunswick, Ohio.
He is survived by his son, David Jr.; former wife, Mary Mizanin; stepdaughter, Jamie Meeks; brother, Michael (Anna); many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and numerous close friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Frances Hunter, and his brother, Joseph Hunter.
After graduating early from Berea High School, Dave honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He embraced the rigor and camaraderie that military life offered while touring the Mediterranean Sea on the USS Independence and USS John F. Kennedy. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline, a steadfast nature, and a pride of service that he carried throughout his life.
Post-military, Dave was the founding owner of CompuCash. He also spent time working at MBNA America and held various sales positions at other companies. This included a memorable time at Harley-Davidson in Virginia Beach, where many of his friends became his "Virginia Family." His charisma and friendly spirit made him a beloved coworker.
He was an avid motorcycle rider, loved smoking cigars at the beach or with family members, and enjoyed attending large family gatherings and breakfasts with the "neighborhood gang."
Dave's legacy of sincerity, fun-loving spirit, and generous heart will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026, and he will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
